Three-time Oscar winner and much-lauded film composer Marvin Hamlisch will be the guest of honour and recipient of the World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award at the 9th World Soundtrack Awards, which close the 36th Ghent International Film Festival on October 17th.

Hamlisch is well known for his scores for such classic films as The Way We Were, The Sting, The Spy Who Loved Me and the musical A Chorus Line.

Hamlisch is one of only two artists to have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, a Tony and a Pulitzer Prize. As part of the evening’s festivities, Hamlisch will also perform and conduct selected suites from some of his most famous scores, including The Way We Were, A Chorus Line and Sophie’s Choice.

Past winners of the World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award include Maurice Jarre, Elmer Bernstein, Angelo Badalamenti, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, Sir George Martin and Alan & Marilyn Bergman, among others.
