13th World Soundtrack Awards & Concert
The Ghent Film Festival is delighted to welcome the French composer Alexandre Desplat to the traditional film music concert during the second part of the World Soundtrack Academy award ceremony which will bring the 40th film festival to a festive end. This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award goes to the Italian composer Riz Ortolani.

Martin Scorsese is a director who attaches enormous importance to music in his films and exhibits great diversity in his choice of composers, his use of existing classical pieces or excerpts from pop and rock songs and the works of classical American songwriters. Hardly surprising, since film and music are the two great passions of the director of Mean Streets and Raging Bull.

World Music Days - Fables Festival
The Philharmonic's guests are the Russian violinist Andrey Baranov, first laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2012, and the Japanese conductor Yuki Kakuichi, winner of the Grand Prix in Besançon in 2011. The concert opens with the second symphony of a young Belgian composer.

“007 in concert: Flemish talents sing James Bond”
On Thursday 18 and Sunday 21 October the Ghent Film Festival and Belgian TV station, één, are presenting “007 in concert” at ’t Kuipke in Ghent. This unique concert will feature Flemish stars and the Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Dirk Brossé, performing special versions of legendary Bond songs. The concert marks the release of the new James Bond film 'Skyfall' on 26 October, as well as the 50th anniversary of the very first James Bond film 'Dr. No'.

The 12th World Soundtrack Awards To Celebrate the Music of Award-Winning Composer James Newton Howard in Concert.
Composer Pino Donaggio To Receive World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award.
The music of award-winning composer James Newton Howard will be celebrated in concert at the 12th World Soundtrack Awards, which will be held at the Kuipke Events Centre in Ghent on Saturday, October 20th. Howard is one of the most versatile and respected film music composers currently working in film. A program of his impressive music will be performed by the renowned Brussels Philharmonic and be accompanied by select film clips. The concert will be conducted by both Howard and Dirk Brossé.
In addition, composer Pino Donaggio will be receiving the World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award at the event. A selection of his work will also be performed at the concert.
